Behind the scenes: Swimwear Production
We have been working with sewing shops in Los Angeles and Bali for over 10 years and have learned a ton about swimwear production! The fit of your bikini is highly dependent not only on the patterns, but also on how and at what tension the elastic is sewn in. We have detailed specifications for all of this and quality test a lot!
Here are some behind the scenes videos to give you a sense how your Pepper Swimwear bikini was made. Enjoy!

The cutting process
Sheets of fabric are stacked and the paper marker with all the styles and sizes is placed on top. The patterns are then traced with a cutter.
Send outs (Spaghetti)
We take fabric and elastic to a send out shop and they product the spaghetti straps.
Bundling
The fabric stacks are organized by color and size so all the pattern pieces for a given item are together

Sewing
We use durable full flex rubber elastic in every seam. This is one of the secrets for long-lasting swimwear! Several steps are required for sewing a finished garment and each workstation performs a specialized task. The cuts are first merged together, then straps (if applicable) and rubber elastic are sewn in. The garment is then turned, for bottoms the crotch opening is sewn closed, then quality testing, tagging, folding and bagging happens.
