Battle of the Paddle 2014

Last weekend (October 4 & 5, 2014) we had the pleasure of displaying our pepperkinis at the Rainbow Sandals Battle of the Paddle at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point, CA. This was our first time introducing our bikinis to the stand up paddle community and we were super happy with our experience. And if I ever find time to pursue another serious hobby aside from beach volleyball, SUP is at the top of my list!

We met some super cool people there including our neighbors April and the Banx Block team.  It was a blazing hot weekend and Sambazon nailed it with their sorbet bowls – literally everyone walking by had one.  Wai Koko’s Kona Mocha coconut water is my new favorite beverage and I have to say that Keikilani was killin’ it in her pepperkinis! It seemed like every exhibitor was giving away trucker hats (thank you Original Watermen) though Smith Optics won my vote for best design. Too bad I didn’t make it over for one before they were gone. My favorite tee shirt said something like, “Paddle like a captain, party like a pirate” – don’t recall who had that one but I’m in! We also received a lot of requests for bikini tops for larger busts and we heard you ladies, we’re working on it.  It turns out Michelle at Pau Hana(a Hawaiian phrase meaning “Work is over” – great name!) is also from Santa Monica, and Sibylle and I both picked up a piece of art from the lovely and talented Lauren Tannehill.
